Adoption

My husband and I have just completed our adoption of a little girl from South Africa.

As we have read through Ephesians and get to verse 5 in Chapter 1 - I was struck -

In love, he predestined us for adoption...

I am living that now... we have chosen, motivated by love, to adopt a little girl, to bring her into our family, and we have decided to love her even though we knew nothing about her when we made that decision...

We didn't know her name, we didn't know what makes her giggle, or how to calm her when she's afraid... we didn't know if she would be stubborn, or easy-going, or if her favorite color would be purple or green.

But we have committed our lives to her.

We promise to love her, no matter what.

Only through trusting God to bring the very little girl that He has chosen for our family, and trusting God to help us through all of the uncertainties, and trusting God to give us the wisdom and strength to parent this little girl that He has chosen for us... only with God is this possible.
